I have a brita water filter and I followed the directions when I opened the filter and soaked it for 15 minutes and I have been filtering water for...

You can always look up their website or call the establishment to make sure if it needs to be or not..but I don't keep mine wet 24/7 and I don't have a difficult with mine at all. Makes me wonder...
